I fancied cleansing the palette, a visual amuse-bouche if you will.  I didn’t sand the gesso in this one, I wanted more texture as I knew the composition would be more pared back.  I’d painted the base layer a grassy green.  I typed in ‘Milton Avery green paintings’ online and looked a while at his beautiful art. Palette cleansed, I turned off my screen and this is the result.

I’d also been wanting to re-introduce some stitch detail.  ‘Sea green’ is an exciting piece for me.  It is that breakthrough painting, which helps inspire ideas for a new series of works.  It sold to a buyer in Japan.
